Bedrooms are important rooms in our homes! We spend a third of our lives in them and they should be places of serenity. Here are some tips to help improve your bedrooms for you and your guests:

Color & Texture
The colors and textures in your bedroom should flow together. Tie your room together by repeating fabrics. Border your curtains with fabric from the bedding or accent pillows. Pick up the colors of the bedding and curtains elsewhere in the room: wall art, accent chairs, lamps and area rugs!

Pillows
Vary the size and shape of your accent pillows. Use bolsters to sit in front of other accent pillows on larger beds to create more depth. Keeping pillows lower and bringing them forward toward the center of the bed allows you to show off the headboard. This also brings the eye down which adds an extra layer of interest.

Seating
Try as often as possible to provide a place to put accent pillows, other than on the floor. Include a chair, chaise, bench, or chest in the room for storing extra pillows at night. In the morning, these accent pieces can double as a spot to put shoes on or lay out tomorrow’s outfit!

Lighting
Use bedside chests or night stands that are higher than the mattress so lamps can illuminate a book for someone who is reading in bed. Always make sure that there is good reading or ambient light.

Floor Art
Warm up your bedroom with area rugs to create an inviting atmosphere. Area rugs help to anchor the bed and add color and pattern to the room. Having a warm area rug to sink your toes into on a crisp morning starts the day out right!

Welcome to your soothing and peaceful retreat! Make your bedroom a cozy place to relax during the day or sleep at night.
