Deck the Chair!

Let’s face it, when it comes to decorations, we all want to outdo the neighbor next door and be deemed the most festive house on the block. Of course, you have the people who go crazy, covering the entire outside of their house with lights, while you drive past with a bewildered look on your face thinking: How on earth did they get those lights up there?!? To me, a well decorated house is only as good as what is on the inside.

Try this fun tip that you can do to give yourself a Christmas room like in the magazines.

Start with one accent chair that stands out more than the other furniture whether it’s because of the color, pattern, or that one piece that really brought out your wild side! This one chair is going to be the inspiration for your Christmas room. Take the colors and/or pattern of this chair and choose all your holiday décor with it in mind. Theme the Christmas tree ornaments with the colors of the chair; choose stockings with coordinating colors; wrap all the presents under the tree, pulling out the colors in the chair along with neutral paper for some; find a cute Christmas pillow with the colors of your chair to sit on the sofa; and dress-up the fireplace with garland, candles, and a wreath that tie in that dominant color. Lastly, drag that colorful chair near your Christmas tree or fireplace and you will have officially amazed all your friends and neighbors with your impeccable design and decorating skills.
